The Innocence Project: The story of Ronald Cotton Continued....

My personal response is to this story is that cops have to be more throe. They convivted him from a eye wittness, which is not very reliable, and some rubber. Then another factor that the system should of done is had the man in prison who said he committed the crimes investigated. This could of had Ronald freed and would of had him only spent 2 years in jail besides of 10.5 years.  I have learned that DNA has set hundreds free and has help catch other people.

The Innocence Project: The story of Ronald Cotton

In 1994, a man was running around, robbing, and rapping women in their houses. Then after that an innocent man na med Ronald Cotton. He was arrested on only 2 pieces of evidence. One being an eye witness account, that later was proven to be false. The second piece of evidence being his tennis shoes had the same consistant of rubber, as found on the crime scene with just those two pieces of evidence he was put in jail till his trials. For his first trial he was convicted of one count of rape and one count of burglary. he was in jail for 2 more years until in 1987 he was to go to his second trial. Before the second trial though, a man in prison, who had been convicted for similar crimes, told another inmate that he had committed the crimes for which Cotton had been convicted. This was told to the superior court judge and was not allowed to be in the evidence. After the trial Cotton had been convicted of for another rape, and burglary.

Cotton stayed inside jail until in 1994 chief appellate defender requested that two new lawyers take over Cotton’s defense. they asked for a DNA test and their request was granted in october, 1994. The seamen from the victims and from the cotton did NOT MATCH. So in 1995 cotton asked for all charges to be dropped. on june 30th of 1995, Ronald Cotton was released from jail and received a 5000 dollor compensation from the state of North Carolina.

Forks Over Knives

In Biology class we watched a movie with a interesting theory. That it is healthier to eat only plant based items rather thatn having a diet with meat in it. this idea was very interesting though because i live on my property and we have cows, chickens, gardens and wild elk. so never have we thought about going vegetarian. this movie showed some evidence that basically says throw out the meat and eat the plants.  So easy enough to say i was very into the movie till the end.

In the movie there are some patients with some medical problems. One has a high cholesterol and a high chance of a heart attack.  Two others had serious cases of diabete's and wanted to control there disease  the last was a women with breast cancer that was on the brink of death. The only thing they had in commmon was the cure that was recommended to them. They were all put on a plant based diet. After 5 months for most there diseases were almost gone and most had became a more healthier weight. Even the women with breast cancer who wasn't suppost to live for more that a couple  months back in the 80's still is alive today. Yet all she did was change her diet. With this evidence and lots of research many doctors are starting to resort back to this idea when it comes to some medicale diseases.

My opinion of this whole movie is that even though some meat can be bad for you, some of it is good. An example of this is elk. Elk is a meat that is low low in fat, high in protein, and has no chemicals or human produced hormones in it. The meat is 100% natural and good for me and the sole to my believes. I didn't see one person be healthy except the breast cancer patient durring the movie. So maybe instead of generalizing the food that people eat they should of shown the types. Because there is a difference between wall mart steak and a James ranch steak.

Imagine having a child, at age 12, be strong enough to throw you against a wall. This was the case for the Temerlin's. There daughter though was not a human, but a chimpanzee. The Temerlin's had adopted Lucy from a circus when she was just a baby in 1964. They had kept care of here for many years until she became to strong and agressive. She would push the guest and jump on people. The Termerlins had to get rid of her and moved her to a chimpanzee rehabilitation center in Gambia in 1976. they stayed a while till they left couple months later. By then Lucy was starting to loose hair and not eating. They left but left one of Lucy's sign language teacher to look after her. She stayed with Lucy and even moved to a new island and lived there for a while. Finally Lucy became independent and the Teacher finally left. Two years later she came back and saw Lucy's bones. Lucy had been skinned by poachers left behind the bones. I take away from this story that chimpanzees are like us, but tehy dont know the differences between dangerous humans or friendly humans.
